Frequently Asked Questions
 What does Lygos do, exactly?
Lygos is a Video Wall Controller Software. It enables creation of seamless screen areas for a video walls without using specialized equipment, just by installing Lygos to distributed computers connected to those screens. It focuses on Visual Data Analytics on Video Walls for Control Rooms and Operation Centers. It has built in applications for Data Visualizations and Maps (GIS) in addition to other Multi Media Applications. Users can create, configure and deploy visualizations from lygos management/control clients installed on PCs and tablets to lygos screen clients runnning on computers connected to a video wall.
Can I setup a video wall without specialized equipment?
Yes. Connect your video wall displays to computers. Install Lygos on those computers. Load Screen Client Windows of Lygos on Each Display of the Video Wall.
Can I create a seamless screen area from screens of a video wall connected to separate computers?
Yes. Lygos is a distributed software. A screenspace of a video wall can be formed from screens from separate computers. We suggest for more accurate synchronization to select similar/identical computers and network infrastructure for all computer nodes of a video wall.
Does Lygos Allow Visualizations on Video Walls to be remotely deployed and controlled?
Yes. Lygos is a distributed software. Management and Control Clients from PCs and Tablets can manage, control or interact with video wall or dashboards.
Can a visualization span to multiple screens of a video wall, if the screens are connected to seperate computers?
Yes. Any data visualization, map or media in Lygos modules can span to multiple screens. Our largest try is 64 screen interactive and animated map connected to 32 computers.
How often configuration changes to visualizations and maps are reflected to screens of a video wall or other control or management clients?
Instantly. Every client (Management/Control/Screens) is synchronized. Any edits, configurations changes or other changes immediately appears on all other control and management clients and changes are reflected to screens. So multiple users can collaboratively control video walls and dsahboards.
How often data changes are reflected to screens of a video wall or dashboard?
Instantly. However it should be noted that Database and REST APIs connections are polled with a frequency you determine. Although the results of every periodic query will be reflected immediately.
Can I use the same data source in multiple data visualizations and maps on a video wall?
Yes. You can use same data source on multiple data visualizations and maps, or different layers or series of a single visualization or map. Data changes to that data source instantly affect all visualizations it is used in.
Can I use multiple data sources in a single visualization?
Depends on the visualization. Some visualizations like Maps, Sensors, Charts allow multiple data sources to be used as separate series or layers within the visualization. Some visualizations like Tree or Message Feed can only visualize a single data source. You can always create separate visualizations for each data source.
Can I wake, restart or shutdown the server remotely?
Yes, you can wake, restart or shutdown a server remotely. In order to wake, you have to turn wake options in BIOS and have connected to the server in your last session.
Can I wake, restart or shutdown video wall computer nodes remotely?
Yes. You can wake, restart or shutdown computer nodes of the video wall screens from the app, for each screen individually or the whole video wall. Wake options on BIOS should be turned of to wake those screen computers back.
Can I Interact or Control Maps on Video Walls from Tablets or PC Clients?
Yes. You can pan and zoom. Enter addresses. Set layer visibilities. Filter data on the map.
How does an application scale in terms of resolution and zoom level when deployed to a video wall?
Most applications of lygos including maps and data visualizations can scale to full resolution of a video wall while keeping original zoom level. This means displaying pixel level details when you approach to screens and look closely. However, if this is not intended behaviour, and the viewers will be looking at the video wall from a distance, Auto Proportion setting from applications can be set to increase scale of visual elements displayed on the application for better visibility from distance
Can you change the layout of applications deployed to a video wall?
Yes. You can arrange collage of applications on the video wall any time through our UI. You can switch locations of applications or replace new applications with existing ones. Also, you can toggle on and off different layouts to display different set of applications on you video walls.
Can I deploy two different instances of same application/visualization type on a Video Wall?
Yes. When you create a visualization, media or map, you can think it as a instance or a document. You can configure, customize, style or connect data to it. Each of these visualizations can be deployed to different regions of layouts (collages) on video walls, even they are created with the same app. You can use these visualizations on different layouts and also on different video walls or dashboards on the same server multiple times.
